The Rockport Board of Health's mission is to promote and protect public health; the Board oversees health and safety concerns with respect to retail food establishments, septic systems, public beaches, semi-public pools, hot tubs, sanitary housing issues, recreational camps for children, disease surveillance and reporting, emergency preparedness, and more.
The Health Agent oversees aspects of environmental health including housing, water quality/safety of beaches and swimming pools, septic system installations and repairs, soil test witnessing, and health code violations.
The Food Inspector handles establishment inspections, permitting, handling complaints or concerns, and ensures the safety of the food establishments.
The Public Health Nurse is responsible for disease surveillance, reporting, and patient treatment (if necessary) and works with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The Animal Inspector assists with quarantines and is responsible for barn inspections as well as ensuring and reporting on the health of the Town's animals.
