The Board of Selectmen is the executive branch of Rockport's government. The Board sets direction, legislates policies, and is the appointing authority for all non-elected officials with the exception of staff reporting to the board of DPW commissioners and elected boards. The Selectmen call all town meetings and elections, as well as propose budgets. They are the licensing authority, set certain fees, and create, and/or adopt, basic rules and regulations. They delegate governmental operations through contract to the Town Administrator who serves as the Town's Chief Administrative, Financial, and Operations Officer.
The Board of Selectmen is a five-member board duly elected by the citizens of Rockport to serve for three-year terms that are staggered among the members. The Board meets every other Tuesday night at legally posted public meetings which are held via Zoom.
