Local Household Hazardous Waste Events

Hazardous Waste is not allowed at the Rockport Transfer Station. To dispose of hazardous materials you must visit a local HHW Event or contact the DPW for guidance on disposal.

Hazardous materials may include the list below. If you are not sure of something call us or speak with the Transfer Station Foreman:

  • Unknown substances
  • Hazardous construction material
  • Chemicals
  • Petroleum Products (oil, gas, etc.) - (for waste oil, see collection event held quarterly at the Wastewater Treatment Plant or call 978-546-3525)
  • Oil Based Paint and paint cans (Latex is accepted if dried out)
  • Industrial waste
  • Infectious or Medical waste including:
    • Sharps
    • Blood or blood products
    • Contaminated animal carcasses
    • Contaminated bedding
    • Biologicals and pathogens

The Town of Rockport hosted a 2022 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Rockport residents are also welcome to attend HHW Reciprocal collection events throughout the year in other nearby communities. Access to non-residents is often restricted to certain hours and may require advance registration, so it is advised that residents review this HHW Recriprocal Event Schedule document closely and contact the host prior to attending an out of town even.
