Assessors Department

Welcome to the Assessors Office.

The Assessors Department maintains an extensive database of property information. Our mission is to accurately assess Real and Personal property and provide prompt and courteous help to the public. The Real Estate values are based on "full and fair cash value" or 100% of the fair market value as of January 1st of each year. The assessors analyze vast amounts of property including actual market sales of each property from the previous calendar year. In addition, the Assessors Department responsibilities include processing deeds and ownership information, tax map maintenance, property tax abatements, personal exemptions, motor vehicle and boat excise tax, and various real estate related inquiries.

The elected Board of Assessors, Chairman Timothy W Good IV, Christopher Trupiano,  Wilhelmina Sheedy, and the Principal Assessor Elizabeth A Dukes meet the second Tuesday of each month. In order to meet with the Board to discuss specific issues, please call the office at 978-546-2011 or email edukes@rockportma.gov to make an appointment.

We are always happy to answer your questions over the telephone or in person. In-depth valuation discussions need to take place in the office where all data is available.

We are located on the main floor of the Town Office Building, 34 Broadway, Rockport, MA 01966.
