The Rockport Police Department has always strived to protect the senior citizens of Rockport through law enforcement, education, support programs, and referral to and working with other senior protective organizations.
In 2012 retired police officer Roger Lesch was appointed by the Board of Selectmen as Special Officer for Elder Affairs. Special Officer Lesch, with the support of Chief John Horvath and the entire Rockport Police Department, continue to enhance our commitment to Rockport’s seniors.
File of Life
The File of Life was introduced to the residents of Rockport in 1996 by the Rockport Police Department. It soon became a positive way for the department to reintroduce itself to the senior citizens of Rockport.
The File of Life is a red plastic magnetic file folder that attaches to your refrigerator. The file contains vitally important medical information about you so that emergency medical professionals have quick access to you basic medical information. The File of Life is free of charge and can be obtained at the Rockport Police Department. It is available to residents of any age.
The Rockport Police Department Senior Watch is a confidential source of information maintained by the department regarding a senior citizen to be used in the event of an emergency. Senior Watch contains such information as contact persons, if the senior has a File of Life and or Life Line, etc. Any senior resident can be enrolled in the program. Good Morning Rockport Police Wellness Check
Good Morning Rockport Police Wellness Check is open to any senior resident. Seniors enrolled in the program are required to call the department at 978-546-1212 ,7 days a week, between 8-10 a.m. If a call is not received at the station, a phone call is made to the senior’s home. If there is no answer, a cruiser is sent to the senior’s home. To enroll call Special Officer Roger Lesch at 978-546-1212, ext 13.
Persons At Risk Watch
The Rockport Police Department Persons At Risk Watch allows families to offer confidential information for locating and/or interacting with the At Risk person of any age. At Risk persons include those with Alzheimer’s Disease, Autism, Down Syndrome, COPD, etc. To enroll contact Special Officer Roger Lesch at 978-546-1212, ext. 13.
